Our Christmas Stockings…and the Marital Testing Zone: Family Fun Friday & Link Up

stockings ChristmasBy Lisa Cherry

Sometimes the holiday preparations can just get me a little overwhelmed.

But this year I have made a concerted effort to take each day and plan the little holiday festivities that I CAN handle, while ignoring the ones that are beyond my reach.

I was so proud of my plan to fabric paint the names on all our Christmas stockings. The last couple years I had failed to get this done and was stuck with notecards labeling them.

So I carefully lectured the troops to stand back away from my creations for the required four hours of drying. I actually felt like I had accomplished something reasonably significant. The kids thought my idea was pretty cool.

Ben stockingBut.....unfortunately Doug was not home for the lecture. So guess whose arm accidentally drug through Baby Ben's name?

When I came into the room later and saw him washing green paint off his elbow, I entered one of those marital testing zones.

Good news. I bit my tongue quickly!

We're ready for another Family Fun Friday Link-Up!  It’s our new tradition here at Frontline Moms.

Since we spend so much of the week Unmasking and frontlining and aiming for the remnant, we need a little dose of Family Fun come Friday!

My daughter Tara at Mommy Head Adventures is helping us with this.

So link up your Family Fun blog post for all of us to see. Just make sure it’s family friendly, and fun.

What kind of fun?

  • Fun crafts
  • Fun kid recipes
  • Fun family outings
  • Fun mom games, or
  • Funny stories about your family

We hope you will share our fun button which you can find on the sidebar.

Yes...it's usually my husband who does the "messing" more than the kids. Although I'm not always so good about biting my tongue!

P.S. Sorry about the links...didn't see the "fun" part until they had already been posted. You can delete them if necessary! Blessings!

Good for you! I call those moral and spiritual victories! I think that's why some wise person said, "When Angry, count to ten. When very angry, count to 100." That mighta been a hundred one. One thing I"ve learned after 28 years of marriage is that I seldom regret what I didn't say, but I sure do regret what I did.  I'm a new visitor, and glad I stopped by today. It was a timely reminder, especially during this time of year.
