Vacation Dreams: Friday Family Fun & Link Up

FFF highway family vacationBy Lisa Cherry

Family vacation time was the topic the other day when I walked in on a discussion between some of my children.

Josiah, who of course at age six has no time perspective yet, was just sure that it was time to go on a trip. In February? I smiled to myself at his youthful innocence.

But I was even more excited to hear one of his older siblings’ response:

"Family vacation is the best time of year!"

Now that might not seem like much of a statement. But honestly, I was relieved to hear this teenager's heartfelt reflection.

It's true… They still do want us!

Maybe you've noticed in your home that pulling kids away for family fun gets harder and harder. Ballgames, school commitments, and friend distractions can take a real toll on together time.

That day I made a commitment to myself. Even though it's too early to really make all the detailed plans, I'm going to dream with the kids just the same. And go ahead and mark my calendar.

What about you? Have you set some dates aside for the summer? Block them out before anyone else can take them! It is worth it!

It's time for this week’s Family Fun Friday Link-Up!  It’s our tradition here at Frontline Moms.

Since we spend so much of the week Unmasking and frontlining and aiming for the remnant, we need a little dose of Family Fun come Friday!

My co-host is my daughter Tara at Mommy Head Adventures.

So please link up your Family Fun blog post for all of us to see. Just make sure it’s family friendly, and fun.  Then check back to see what fun other families have posted about.

What kind of fun?

  • Fun crafts
  • Fun kid recipes

Sounds like fun!  I'm going to talk about this with my family tonight at dinner.

I remember, as a teen, not wanting to do stuff with my family, but I always ended up having a good time.  Blessings as you plan your next vacation.

Thank you for linking up to the Prairies.  We always plan our family vacations around Christmas.  Last Christmas we surprised the kids with the Disneyland Xbox kinect game and then told them to practice up as we were going in the summer.  The look on their faces was amazing.  This year simple trip to the coast to visit family, but they are just as excited.

That is a great idea! After Christmas the kids are looking for the next
big family time event. Sometimes they are even a little droopy when the
holiday is over. Talking vacation plans would pull their imagination
      forward. Thanks.
