 Lisa driveway gouge

By Lisa Cherry

I was backing my car out of our circular driveway this morning only to encounter a familiar problem. Poor backing skills.

You would think I would have this problem conquered after all these years of driving. I don't.

Instead I watched the view in the rearview mirror of my car heading off to the grass.

I could see Doug's face grimacing (even though he was nowhere in sight) as I was over on that part of the yard he has so patiently tried to keep covered in grass.

But now that my wheels were clearly doing their damage, I was faced with a new problem.

Should I keep going with a wheel adjustment hoping to "arc" my way back onto the pavement?

Or should I stop, pull forward, realign, and try it again.

I kind of wish I would have tried option 2. :(

Isn't that how it is sometimes when we get our parenting leadership going off course? We know we are headed into disaster. And yet it is tough to figure out how to get back on track.

Here are my top thoughts on how to make changes in parenting direction when you know you are off track:

1. Have the courage to stop and reconsider your path.

2. Pray and ask God for wisdom to see where you got off.

3. Recognize that course corrections are not instantaneous. They usually take time.

4. I really don't recommend the "arc" method. Swinging even wider off course is a rough way to get back on!  (And it generally tears up more turf in the process!)

5. "Stop and realign" is what God does best in our lives. Trust Him. And take His way over your own foolish path.

Do you have some things off track in your home?

I am grateful for a God who might grimace at my poor leadership, but never forsakes me when I need His wisdom and grace.

So many parents live a lifetime of regrets because they never had the courage to get back on track! I don't know about you but I don't want to look in my rearview mirror when I'm old and say.....

Wow, I sure wish I would have changed...

I am praying for you and your family today.

Will you pray for me too?

(And don't worry. Doug has more grass seed ready to sow!)

This is our third miracle story this week. I am sharing the testimonies of 3 of my friends who tell the world this truth:

God can change homosexual desires!

Perhaps you have never met someone who has been set free from the complex and difficult issue of same sex attraction.

That is what someone shared with me just a few weeks ago. This person was sincerely asking me if I had ever known of someone able to change. I was so excited I could answer "Yes!"

Dennis Jernigan's story stands as a testimony of hope and a beacon of truth.

Not only can we read his story... but soon we will all be able to see his story in a new documentary called Sing Over Me.  It premiered February 28, and you can watch the trailer here.  He’s also published a book by the same title, available here.

If you are not familiar with Dennis and his amazing worship ministry, please read about him and take a listen right here.

Dennis knows His Daddy so well. And every time he sings, I find myself drawn close to my Father’s heart. Thanks, Dennis. You have touched my life for the last 20+ years.

I pray that a new generation of God seekers will find their healing in the shadow of the One you sing to!

(I have been emailing Dennis and his team over the last few weeks. I want to make sure all our friends of Frontline Family Ministries are ready to help spread the word of his new release. I will keep you posted as the movie becomes available nationwide.)

This week I am sharing 3 important testimonies from 3 special friends of mine whose lives answer this question:

Can homosexuals change?

Patty is a dear friend of mine. When she heard we were writing our new book Not Open:Win the Invisible Spiritual Culture War, she sent me her story to share with the world.

I am so proud of Patty!! And I am so proud of Jesus!

I was there to witness her miracle transformation with the food box ladies. And I am so glad she is willing to tell you what happened!

So without further delay... please meet my friend and sister in the Lord, Patty.

"My history does not define who I am. The Bible says so. Therefore if any man be in Christ old things are passed away. Behold all things are new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

In 1980, while in the army, I came out of the closet as a lesbian. I got into radical feminism and was pro-choice.

I claimed to be an atheist for a while, then I was into reincarnation and claimed Shirley MacLaine was God.

Christmas 2000: A couple women left a box of food at my door. They left a Bible in the box. (The Bible made me mad.)

February 2001: I attended a Bible study at the church that left me the Bible. I was in this church to disturb its people's peace. These people just loved and prayed for me.

May 16, 2001: I asked for my salvation on a Wednesday night in a friend's car. I woke on Thursday morning with no homosexual desires. I was prolife and I knew that Shirley MacLaine was not God.

For about 10 days I had minor identity problems and experienced a little fear because of the sudden change. My friend Nancy taught me this scripture: For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

In August 2013, I still am in the process of healing wounds from my previous life. I am strong and have no desire to return to the past mess of a life I once lived.

I wake up every morning and go to bed every night knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me and performs miracles in my daily life."

Do you know someone who needs this miracle in their life? Will you share Patty's testimony with them?

Can a homosexual person change?

If you ask the LGBTQ ...they say no.

If you ask many physicians and counselors....they may say no.

And if you even ask some Christian leaders, they may say no!

But is that what God says about these issues?

Or can He change, deliver and heal?

In this day when the issues of sexuality are dividing our nation and splitting the church, we must venture into these questions with a searching heart. Our children deserve to have some answers!

This week I am going to share with my readers 3 important testimonies from 3 special friends of mine who are living healed and free.

I encourage you to consider sharing these stories with your family and friends. They may never have heard these kinds of stories.

Please let me be clear. I am in no way wanting to minimize the pain and suffering from those who find themselves trapped in unwanted same sex attraction. Sexual addictions and sexual wounds are amazingly complex.

Yet these problems are not too hard for God. It is so important to offer hope to those who need help!

Our God is mighty. And merciful. And loving. He yearns to pull His children out of the pit of destruction!

I was one of the about 100 people at the meeting reported on in this recent trending story online.

Linda's story needs to be shared.  Will you join me in praying for her as God is opening doors for her to share compassion and hope?

Dear Pebo,

Today marks 33 years since we stood at that altar, starry-eyed.

And just so our kids and grandkids and even the whole world knows today, I want to make a declaration:

The hot romance of our youth has not faded. And the love has only grown more beautiful.

Oh, to others, these might look like 33 obstacles to romance. But we know they were doorways to intimacy.

The real secret to our marriage?

It's all wrapped up in that big God kind of love word, agape.
