Archives For Remnant

Is it the “End Times?”

Lisa Cherry —  September 7, 2014

Last week Franklin Graham said what surely many of us our thinking.

As I read the news, I can't help but wonder if we are in the last hours before our Lord Jesus Christ returns to rescue His church and God pours out His wrath on the world for the rejection of His Son. I don't know if we have hours, days, months, or years—but as Christians, God calls us to take the truth of the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

So is it the end of the age? Whose theory and interpretation should we believe?

Honestly, I do not have the definitive answer to those questions, but I do know this:

We are seeing increased darkness
We are seeing increased falling away from biblical Christianity

We are seeing increased lawlessness!

So whether it is the end or just a very very dangerous season...IT IS TIME TO MAKE OUR WISE RESPONSES AS FAMILIES!

That is why this week Doug and I are releasing a new initiative called Project 7000. We believe we must do more RIGHT NOW to prepare and equip the Remnant of The Lord.

(Maybe you saw something about it last week. We are explaining it in a series of email and video communications.)

For the last year we have had many many ask us...

Project 7000 is our best response. It is born on the wings of prayer and we are taking the Lord's call to this assignment very very seriously.

Here is the link to our new site that explains how we will accomplish the 3 things we heard from our readers that they needed now for their families:

1.    Defend-Your-Faith Worldview Training
2.   Strengthen-Your-Family-Relationship Building
3.   Develop-Your-Team Role Models

Will you prayerfully consider joining with us? Doug and I will be pouring our hearts into our kids' lives in order to build our family's ark...and then we will share with you and your family every step of the way as well! We will begin our online sign up on Tuesday @ 8am eastern and then close this opening group of participants on Thursday @ 11:00 pm est.

Project 7000

Together we can be like what God told Elijah that was reiterated in Romans 11:

One of the "7,000" that have not bowed a knee to Baal!

Will you be a part of The Remnant?

In His Service,

PS. Doug will be traveling to Washington DC on Thursday, September 11 to launch this PROJECT 7000 off with prayer at our nation's capital.  We will send you the schedule of how you can follow him on his journey.

The title of this post is heavy on my mind today. So please allow me to explain.

I just finished speaking to a lovely group of church folks about one of my new favorite topics: the Remnant of the Lord.

I did what I usually do and led my listeners into a personal reality check that included a brush with some nasty statistics like....

Even though 83% of Americans still identify themselves as "Christian" when asked their religion of choice, only 9% of adults and only 1% of the Millennial generation have, according to George Barna, a biblical worldview!

9% of adults think and reason according to the teachings and principles of the Bible?!

1% of the young generation??!  Meaning our kids!!!

Can anyone besides me say that this is deeply distressing??

Somehow we have changed seasons in our nation. Somehow, while we were busy doing other things, we have exchanged our Christian heritage for something else!

And that explains why we scarcely recognize our national tenor as we peek in at our nightly news.

But not all of us have changed. Right???

Not all of us are running headlong into a feel-good sea of  relativism that flaunts sin as if it were the new vogue. Some of us are still standing. Right??

During a back to school service in the church I was visiting, I looked earnestly at the altar filled with teachers and students. And I couldn't help wondering. ...

Who in that group would be in the 9% or 1% ?

For just a moment I could hear my inner self about to pull an Elijah and say, "Lord, I must be the only one of your people standing!" But almost immediately, I sensed the Lord's correction.

Lisa, just like in the days of your brother Elijah, I have preserved for Myself ones (i.e. 7,000) who have not bowed their knee to Baal.

Yes, Lord, I celebrated! You are preserving for Yourself a holy remnant.

Now my job as a parent is to figure out how to lead my child to be...

…the 1 in 100!

This thought is whirling through my mind on a daily basis as I consider the priorities for my family in this new school year.

How about you? What are your spiritual goals for your home? What is the Lord speaking to you right now about the most important things to include in your plan for your family?

Bible reading
Heart to heart discussions
Inspirational movies

Folks, the 1 in 100 will not come by accident.

What is your plan?

My heart is breaking this week as our nation is focused on the Supreme Court deliberation on the issue of same sex marriage. So much of our children's future is at stake on this decision. Are you using this time of national debate to engage your kids in family debate?

If not, I encourage you to seize the opportunity! Every weekend we encounter parents who wish they had engaged their kids before they lost them to the wayward mores of a tribulating and confused culture. We must help them learn to reason and think biblically.

I have some resources for you to use in your home this week.

I encourage your family to pray together for our nation and our leaders this week!  Make it a quality time to Build Your Ark as a Remnant Family!

REMNANTBy Lisa Cherry

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.  Hebrews 11:7

Our nation's electorate has spoken. And in many ways the collective voice demands our own personal response.

Are we prepared to help our children sort out the messages? Here our some quick thoughts.

1.  We must rejoice in the freedom we enjoyed in peaceful, free elections. Our leaders now need our honor and prayer.

2. We need to understand that "majority rules" does not mean that "minority voices" no longer have a voice.

3. Clearly, the majority of Americans did not choose to view this election with the moral, ethical, and spiritual standards that line up with Biblical standards
. That is a harsh reality that spills over to our personal lives.

4. We must be ready and equipped to stand firm in the Lord even amidst persecution and hardship.

5. Traditionally, hardship and persecution has grown the strength of the church....not destroyed it.

6. However, many will not choose to stand. This calls each of us into a time of personal decision making.

7. As our hearts look at our is truly time to look at ourselves. Who and what do we serve? Convenience? Comfort? Money? Popularity? ....or the Lord?

8. Even as one generation has failed to make a stand, another generation will arise. Our sons and daughters are soon to take the reins. Will they be more or less equipped than their parents?

I am more committed than ever to doing my part to equip this remnant generation. I sense the Lord calling this simple blog to be a voice of light in a greater way in the coming season.

Together, we can see His Kingdom truths shine…even into a dark world trying to snuff out His Light.

Now we must pray. Now we must stand.

A few years ago the Lord impressed on my heart this simple directive......

Lisa, you are to train others to stand firm in difficult times

I recommit myself to that direction today.

Works for Me Wednesday

Micah runningBy Lisa Cherry

Last week end I had the privilege of watching my 14 year old son be different.  As a gifted runner, he competes at our local high school even though he does not attend class there. This year, he helped his team make it to state level competition. All while he has refused to compromise his strong morals and Christian beliefs.

I am convicted regularly when I pass my son’s door in the morning and I hear his fervent prayer. And I ask myself on behalf of his younger brothers and sisters still maturing......what makes this boy WANT to be different?

As a Christian mom I am extremely aware of the level of compromise tempting our generation. Fake Christianity. Carnal living. Lukewarm faith. All have been culturally normed. Even while God is calling to His children.....come into my Remnant! Build an ark for you and your whole family whereby you may be saved.

But what good would an ark do if our children will not get on our boat?

Somehow they need an internal desire to go against the crowd and stand for the King.

Here are my thoughts about how this happened for my teens and young adults Nathan, Kalyn, Lucas, Rebekah, Hannah, Micah and Matthew. I am eternally grateful to the Lord!

1.  Expose them to true heroes of the faith. Most kids today are idolizing pop stars. True heroes such as the men and women of Foxe's Book of Martyrs  will totally blow the lid off the word hero.

2. Keep them around hot embers. Spiritual fervor is generally caught not taught.

3. Consider the value of special milestone events in their own spiritual lives. Conferences. Camps. Revivals. etc.

4. Keep the word of God central in your home. NOTHING speaks louder than a well-prioritized family prayer/Bible reading time!Doug Micah Lisa

5. Live  Deuteronomy 6:6-7 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

6. Get them out of the children's and youth ministry boxes long enough to know mature believers who have stood strong for a lifetime.....otherwise, they may not understand the target!

7.  Capitalize on the God-given stage of adolescent development that wants the extreme. We know the developing brain is more likely to take risks. God can use this season to assist them to get radical for Him.

8. Pray, pray, pray for a personal visitation of the person of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit to descend upon there hearts.

9. Control the atmosphere of your home. Play God-honoring worship music. Turn off media competition that is wooing their hearts astray!

10. This is probably the most important... Refuse to compromise yourself. Dare to be an adult that is not afraid to be different!  Have a personal revival yourself! Studies continue to show that the #1 influencers of kids are their parents!
