Full Repair??

Repair Shampoo

by Doug Cherry

I showered this morning and did what millions of men across America will do today.  I picked up my wife's shampoo to use on my own hair.  As I looked at the name of the shampoo it inspired hope!  Could this shampoo really live up to its name?   You can see from the top of my head a full repair (for me) would be a notable miracle.  It would take something almost the magnitude of raising Lazarus from the dead (after three days in the tomb).  I really do not have anything left to "repair," I need a full regeneration!Doug Cherry head
As I thought about the faith struggle to bring life from the very pits of death (hair from near total baIdness), I likened it to the plight of many parents I speak to as I travel across America who are in the middle of a teen crisis that looks pretty much impossible to heal.
We were in that sort of a crisis a few years ago.  It looked like we were down for the final count.  But God had a different plan.  We watched Him snatch our teen daughter out of the jaws of depression, rebellion, eating disorders, self mutilation, and hopelessness.  He did a "Full Repair" on our family.
He is in the business of bringing life out of the cold grave.  He wants to do that for you as well.  We are praying for you today.  Let us know what your family needs so that we know exactly how to pray.

POTTS Parents of Tweens and Teens

By Lisa Cherry

I am in our heaviest season of travel right now speaking to hundreds of parents every  week. Never have I sensed such a vital need for prayer in our homes.

...are knocking on our doors!

As I was praying this morning for all our Frontline Families, I was reminded of the powerful tool of prayer the Lord has given us to bring our kids through an evil generation. And right behind that reminder I also remembered the Lord gave us powerful prayers in His Book that we know are pre-aligned with the will of God! That is good news because we have an amazing promise in I John 5: 14-15 that says....

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know He hears us-whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of Him.

So I encourage you, instead of praying begging prayers today for your home, pray deeper to the root of your issues and needs. Pray as Paul prayed. He knew as we know that when the insides of our lives are lined up correctly the outsides will follow! These are daring prayers that could TURN OUR LIVES INSIDE OUT and UPSIDE DOWN!

Love you all! Will you join me praying............

Prayer 1

Philippians 1: 9-11

And this is my prayer for my family....
That our love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that we may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ -- to the glory and praise of God!

Prayer 2

Colossians 1: 9-12

I ask you, God, to fill us with the knowledge of your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. I pray this in order that we may live a life worthy of The Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that we may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

Prayer 3

Ephesians 1: 17-19

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give my family the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know You better. I pray also that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which He has called us, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe!

And here are ten ways to turn a Frontlinemoms post into a POTTS meeting:

1. Print copies of the post you select for each of the group members.

2. Consider using some of the posts written in a series all in one group meeting.

3. Read the post together as a group.

4. Look up each scripture reference as it is mentioned in the posts.

5. Pause at the end of sections or paragraphs to allow group discussion.

6. Most posts will open up for discussion when you ask your group these three questions:

1) How does this article speak to you in your parenting?
2) What changes or adjustments do you feel the Lord leading you toward?
3) What are your greatest takeaway thoughts from this article?

7. Perhaps your group would want to write a comment on the post. Perhaps you will find ways to improve upon the article and want to share your thoughts with other families. If so, enter that comment online at

8.  Encourage your members to take ideas from the post home to use in family devotions.

9.  Keep the extra copies of posts you have already discussed to give to new members.

10.   Another resource we offer is Daily Bites, a daily parenting tip by email that you can read in less than a minute.  Your members can get a free subscription by entering their email address here.  Sometimes the Daily Bites impact our lives so much they could also become a focus of discussion in our POTTS meetings. Ask your group members to share with each other how the Lord has spoken to them in their daily tips.

The Better Mom

By Lisa Cherry

Wow! How the last two years have changed my life! I can hardly believe we are about to finish our second year of touring around the country speaking to parents at Acquire the Fire [www dot acquirethefire dot com] events.

With almost 60 events under our belts, we are now veterans to the traveling ministry lifestyle… Well, almost.  I now think I could navigate an airport in my sleep.  But I’ve written before about some of my travel mess-ups, mishaps and goofs, and I must confess I still sometimes make some ridiculous blunders.
This past weekend I could not find my driver’s license after coming through screening. I knew I would have to forfeit my seat on the plane, since I would never make it back home without it.

Visions of calling Doug to rescue me by overnighting my passport were flashing through my mind, when I suddenly remembered my stupid error. I had set my license in the security tub with my other belongings and had never retrieved it. The TSA agent searched through the tall stack of tubs and found it, and I smiled sweetly at him.

Adventure, fulfillment and fatigue would be choice adjectives for these last two years. My children have risen to the lifestyle adjustment well. Doug is carrying more of the weekend commitments and thoroughly enjoying it; our older kids can handle some events without me; and the younger seven are busy rotating their turns to travel to exotic and non-exotic destinations.

But other than fun and adventure, why would we continue such massive efforts? That’s easy. Because of our call to our tribe. God is awakening a new generation of POTTS (Parents of Teens and Tweens), and we are privileged to be some of His messengers.

Our meetings this year have been so exciting! As parents we are awakening to the Lord to lead our kids to mature faith and holy living. Is it easy? NO way! Raising teens today is extremely difficult….but ever so important.

In each city we expanded our offerings to include new meetings on issues such as Sex, Love, Dating and Courtship; Capturing the Heart of Your Teen; Protecting Your Child from Sexual Predators; Top 7 Things My Parents Did Right; and Normal Parenting Is Not Enough.

The results? We expect to finish this year with nearly 900 POTTS subscribers who have signed up to start some sort of POTTS group either in their own family or their church!  Back in September we set a goal of 600, and thought that was aggressive!

Each month we email our subscribers an instructional parenting video which they can use as the basis for discussion in their groups. Thousands of parents have been challenged to lead their home more effectively.

Prayers for healing and deliverance were offered at every event. Books and resources have sold very well, and we have placed hundreds of copies in homes of parents who could not afford them. And most important of all, Jesus was magnified in the lives of thousands of parents.

All glory to God for what He has done! Truly, He has not forgotten this generation!

As we celebrate what He has done, we are looking forward to year 3 on the tour. Will you join us in prayer?

A Peek into POTTS

Lisa Cherry —  January 14, 2012

Hi Frontline Moms,

I just wanted to let you see what my good friend Deanna said on the POTTS Facebook page.   She's a member of our local group and she posted about our meeting last Wednesday night.

Have you started your own POTTS group yet, or joined an existing one?

Thanks, Deanna!

I am always so full of inspiration when I leave a POTTS (Parents of Teens and Tweens) Group meeting. If you don't have a POTTS group in your community, start one and if you have one please attend.

Being inspired causes you to be open to and seeking more. I think this is part of the flow we were talking about last night at our POTTS group meeting. The Grace of God is His creativity that is available to us to stand, to act, to do more than survive, to have the courage to (I can't think of the word) (do something, not just do something in response to what is done to us),

In the meetings I get so intense because I am excited when the Holy Spirit finishes a conversation he has been trying to have with me throughout my parenting or brings back to my remembrance what He has spoken to me that I may not have heard as clearly as I should have.

When you get in this flow this is the time to revisit your prayer journal, open up your bible and revisit those highlighted scriptures. There is more. Creativity does not have a starting and ending point, it is infinite. He said *he will do a new thing out of his mouth over 2000 years ago and because He said it His word is constantly performing it over and over. It is so right now that if you catch even a little of it you will realize the urgency of the moment.

That raft that you will need to ride on is passing you right now. Will you jump on? Will you run to meet it? Will you walk out into the water and grab it? Will you wait at the shore and step in as it comes to you?

In these times that we are in if we know that we have been entrusted to train up the remnant that will lead the saints in these last and evil days I do believe we will run towards it. With some Godly fear, yes but we will run knowing that his Grace/Creativity is sufficient, what He is creating in you and through you is sufficient. Listen, can you not hear the water rushing? It is time. It is now.

This river of Grace/Creativity seems to flow through every POTTS group meeting that I have attended. Sometimes it is a calm flow that you have to seek out and sometimes like last night it is a mighty rushing current! But at every meeting it does *SPRING FORTH. *Will you see it? What will stop you from seeing it? *If you see your family in the wilderness, It Is There. If your family is in a desert, It Is There. You who are chosen to raise up the remnant, *there is drink for you. It is available Now.

I can see myself every week being washed and made new. Washed from fear, guilt, anxiety and pride. That flow cleanses you and makes you new. What do you need to be cleansed of? Without these things on me I am free to Love my children through every season.

FYI we discussed parenting from the perspective of *Isaiah 43:18-19 and it was FIRE!!!!

Join us at the POTTS Facebook page. We'd love to hear from you too.
